History and Additional Information
Friends of the Lewisville Library was organized on October 9, 1984.
Friends meet the fourth Monday of the month at 7 pm at the library. We have one general meeting per year. We are a 501 c 3 organization and we were incorporated in 1996. We govern with approved By-laws and additional Standards and Provisions.
Our fiscal year is from January 1 to December 31.
Our purpose is to assist in developing and improving the resources, services and facilities of the Lewisville Branch of the Forsyth County Public Library.
There are four officers: President, Diane Bauman; Vice President, Dorothy Sayers; Treasurer, Judy Ditmore; Secretary, Kay Smitherman. We can have up to 8 board members.
Our membership is open to anyone interested in the Lewisville Library. Current membership fees are as follows:

Friends publish four newsletters a year and have a spring and fall book sale. There are four active committees including programs, fundraising, receptions, and membership.
Friends try to keep patrons aware of our activities by using posters and flyers within the library and by e-mailing our membership with upcoming events.
Friends are always looking for people to join our organization and serve in some capacity. The Friends of the Lewisville Library was awarded the Frances B. Reid Award from the Friends of North Carolina Public Libraries in recognition of their efforts in 2007. In 2008, Friends won an Honorable Mention in the Frances B. Reid Award competition.
In 2008 Friends completed their commitment to patrons, who donated monies in honor of loved ones by purchasing metal and glass sculptures to decorate the new library.
Friends won the Francis B. Reed award in 2009 & 2007 and received Honorable Mention in 2008.
